Fernando Alonso says his victory at the British GP Sunday (10 / 7), is a major boost for Ferrari after a difficult start to the season.
This Italian men have not won a thing since the Korean Grand Prix series last year. However, Alonso won a great victory at Silverstone to end the drought that Maranello Squad.
"Obviously this is a great encouragement for us," Alonso said as quoted by Autosport. "We were confident could perform quick at Silverstone," he added.
Alonso feels Silverstone is not the best place for his team, where they always find it difficult circuit in England's pride, as if they race at Barcelona. However, today's victory clearly gives a very good motivation for Ferrari.
"There is no doubt that the grand prix race was not easy for us, the characteristic angle and the layout has never been our strongest point," said Alonso.
"We know Silverstone, like Barcelona, it is difficult for us. So, winning here is a great motivation for everybody and gives us confidence to face the next race," he continued.
The Spanish rider insisted Ferrari will enjoy this victory without thinking about the championship standings, where he noticed the difference with Sebastian Vettel, 92 points, was too big.
"We'll try to enjoy these moments, victories and hard work. We will do the same approach with what we did in Malaysia and in Canada," said Alonso.
"There's no thinking about the championship now because of the difference with Seb is too big. We need to enjoy every weekend and no time to think about something else," he said.
