The fear of U.S. People on terrorism

Fears among citizens of the United States from terrorist attacks has declined, according to a poll released on Thursday (09/08/2011), although the majority of New Yorkers feel their city remains a prime target.

Thirty-six percent of Americans surveyed in a poll conducted by Quinnipiac University pollsters behave "if it is not very worried about it somewhat worried" about "the existence of terrorist attacks in the United States in the coming months."

Towards the 10th anniversary this weekend of the September 11 attacks, however, 58 percent of New Yorkers believe that another attack on their city that would lead to a large number of deaths is very likely or somewhat likely.

"Across the country, fears of another attack like 9 / 11 has faded a lot," said Maurice Carroll, director of the poll at the private university in Connecticut, given a Quinnipiac poll in 2006 in which 62 percent will be afraid of another attack.

Quinnipiac findings are based on a survey to the respondents listed in New York and across the country took place on 1-6 and August 16 to 27, with a margin of error of 2.7 and 1.9 percentage points.

Last week, a poll by the Pew Research Center found that one in three Americans think it's just a matter of luck that their nation has avoided a repeat of 11 September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentago
