Some times ago, I saw a television show in Indonesia. I was quite intrigued with the idea of the show. The theme of the show is Jihad and terrorism. As we know, a lot of people who interpret jihad in the wrong way. For the Americans or Europeans, jihad is terrorism, and it is a misconception. Here is not my intention to defend those who commit terrorism in the name of jihad. Because people in the name of jihad is also wrong to do so in the form of terror.
Jihad is striving in the path of Allah, and Allah loves peace. Because Islam is rahmatan lil alamin or Islam is a blessing for the whole universe. In Islam, when you are struggling to help the poor and natural disasters, it is part of jihad. You fight injustice, you are including jihad. Jihad is fighting on the right path. Thus, jihad and terrorism are not the same.
In Islam, love for the homeland is part of faith in God. Sentence is an important thing that I want to highlight. When NATO attacked the country in the middle east, they assume the fighters who defend the independence and sovereignty of the country are called terrorists. Then what is the designation for people who attack other countries on the grounds of democracy? In fact they actually want the country's natural resources for their interests. I think they give a false sense of jihad and terrorism, and most likely, they are the real terrorists
Here, the role of media is very big in giving the wrong meaning for Jihad. Me and you do not need to be afraid of the word jihad, because jihad is the struggle for truth. Jihad and terrorism is not something in common.
The ruth of Jihad , not done in a peaceful place. War in Jihad, should only be done in the war was going on. And Jihad is not something I think is wrong. Wrong in jihad is the way to give meaning and apply it by people who are less learned. So we should know the differents between Jihad and terrorism, because the mistake in giving the meaning of those words give discomfort to our lives.
